Military pay and allowances

Pay, additional remuneration and allowances are a serviceman’s entitlement, not a privilege. Where they are underpaid or not paid at all, the arrears can be recovered.

When to get in touch

• pay has not been made, or has been made only in part
• additional remuneration for performing combat tasks has not been calculated
• questions have arisen about payments in connection with an injury
• a family is dealing with payments following a serviceman’s death

What the lawyer does

Legal basis

The right to pay and material support is provided for by the Law of Ukraine “On Military Duty and Military Service” No. 2232-XII. The amounts and conditions, including additional remuneration for the period of martial law, are determined by acts of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and orders of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine; social guarantees are governed by the Law of Ukraine “On Social and Legal Protection of Servicemen and Members of Their Families”.

Can payments for past periods be recovered?

Arrears are recoverable; questions of time limits and periods are resolved having regard to the nature of the payment and the circumstances of the case.
