Extradition and Interpol disputes

An extradition request, or a search through Interpol channels, restricts freedom of movement long before any hearing on the merits. The work runs on two tracks at once — procedural, in Ukraine, and through the international mechanisms.

When to get in touch

  • a foreign state has requested a person’s extradition
  • a person has been detained in connection with an international search
  • a search request has been submitted to Interpol
  • you need the risks of travelling abroad assessed while proceedings are pending

What the lawyer does

  • analyses the grounds for the extradition request and any circumstances that rule extradition out
  • takes part in deciding the question of a preventive measure
  • prepares objections to extradition
  • files the relevant applications concerning the international search data
  • handles the extradition check procedure
  • coordinates with foreign lawyers where needed

Legal basis

Sending an extradition request is governed by Article 573 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine; detention to secure extradition by Article 584; and the grounds for refusing extradition by Article 589.

Legislation and case law are updated over time; this page reflects the position as of August 2026.
